To all who love the Finger Lakes:

High Volume Horizontal Hydraulic Fracturing (“Fracking”) for natural gas in the Finger Lakes will INDUSTRIALIZE THE FINGER LAKES REGION, destroying for generations the unique beauty and assets of our region, seriously weakening, if not destroying, our Wine, Agriculture, and Tourism Industries.

- Will we risk the contamination of our lakes and drinking water .and the
safety of our bikes, buggies, and tractors on our town & county roads?

- Will we allow the air polluting truck traffic to plug up our streets and roads
.... …and discourage tourists (and wine tasters) from coming…and spending?

- Will we allow our beautiful farms and scenic vistas to be laced with pipelines, access roads, compressor stations?
….....and the use of land on our farms and towns to be controlled by the gas companies…...for generations
….
….leaving our Comprehensive Plans and zoning codes powerless to preserve the rural character of our towns?

- Will we allow the value of our lake and farm properties to be diminished
….....and weaken the ability of farm and home buyers to get a mortgage
….....and our farm and home owners to sell their property
.........while diminishing property tax revenues for our towns?

- Will we encourage our Mennonite neighbors to move from our area, and to find a new one, like the peaceful, rural, non-industrial place our region was when they decided to move here…before the fracking?

Will we pass on this treasure of the Finger Lakes to our children and grandchildren
as it was passed on to us?

Or a Finger Lakes Region despoiled by fracking industrialization?

Whatever short term gains and income that hydrofracking will give the few of us, will be offset by negative impacts on the many of us, and on our Region, now and for many years to come.

If you are not yet convinced, please take a few moments to view these videos:

1. "Heavy Fraffic": (Showing the incredible truck traffic in Northern Pennsylvania…
.... which will come HERE with hydrofracking.).

2. A presentation by Restoration Ecologist Kevin Heatley showing that damage from hydrofracking to our woodlands, hillsides and valuable scenic vistas.............
........... will take decades to restore

In support of positions taken by the Yates County Legislature, the Keuka Lake Association, the Finger Lakes Land Trust, and many towns, villages and organizations across the region, join the rapidly growing movement to ban hydrofraqcking in the watersheds of the Finger Lakes…and to give our watersheds equal protection with those of Syracuse and NYC.

Sign the Petition to our State Legislators at http://signon.org/sign/ban-hydrofracking-from?source=mo&id=32298-9404747-r%3D5VrZx.

Send an email with these links to your family and friends urging them to look at the videos and sign the petition. A sample email for use or adaptation is available here.

Time is running down towards the granting of drilling and fracking permits in the Finger Lakes. Lets act now and make our voices heard in Albany.
